WHAT IS ILEAD?

ILEAD is an all Coast Guard Initiative, which was initiated by the Commandant. It stands for Inclusive Leadership, Excellence, and Diversity. It provides our members the opportunity to share concerns and best practices. The Auxiliary has a seat at the table.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

Diversity, Inclusion, Leadership, and Excellence are priorities of the U.S. Coast Guard and our leadership at the highest levels.

WHAT IS AN LDAC?

LDAC stands for Leadership Diversity Advisory Council.  It is the "local" unit. Its goal is to create and maintain a positive environment where everyone is encouraged to use their unique talents and skills.

HOW IS MY DISTRICT INVOLVED?

Auxiliary LDACs at the District level invite input from members, share with leadership and pass trends up to Auxiliary leadership and the National ILEAD Council for review and possible action. (Districts may take action to solve problems and implement best practices.)

WHAT IS THE BENEFIT TO MY DISTRICT, DIVISION, FLOTILLA?

Improved Recruiting; Member Retention; Re-engagement of members thinking of leaving, as well as Improved efficiency and morale.

These are not pie in the sky goals.  They are statistically proven.

Diversity Calendar Highlights

January Diversity Calendar Highlights: January is a month full of opportunities to celebrate diversity, health, and kindness while embracing new beginnings. Start the year 2025 with joy by joining the D204 Lions International New Year’s Story Time on January 4, where exciting tales come to life, and Coastie Time promotes boating safety, either online or at the Hagatna Public Library. Honor the achievements of Korean Americans on January 13, and reflect on the powerful legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on January 20, inspiring us to dream of equality and justice. Throughout the month, raise awareness about important health issues like glaucoma and cervical cancer, celebrate National Braille Literacy Month, and consider donating blood to save lives during National Blood Donor Month. Don’t miss fun local events like UOG's Let’s Cook sessions and the Island Feels in the Hills concert on January 18. Let’s make this January one to remember—mark your calendars and join the celebration!
