WHAT IS ILEAD?

ILEAD is an all Coast Guard Initiative, which was initiated by the Commandant. It stands for Inclusive Leadership, Excellence, and Diversity. It provides our members the opportunity to share concerns and best practices. The Auxiliary has a seat at the table.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

Diversity, Inclusion, Leadership, and Excellence are priorities of the U.S. Coast Guard and our leadership at the highest levels.

WHAT IS AN LDAC?

LDAC stands for Leadership Diversity Advisory Council.  It is the "local" unit. Its goal is to create and maintain a positive environment where everyone is encouraged to use their unique talents and skills.

HOW IS MY DISTRICT INVOLVED?

Auxiliary LDACs at the District level invite input from members, share with leadership and pass trends up to Auxiliary leadership and the National ILEAD Council for review and possible action. (Districts may take action to solve problems and implement best practices.)

WHAT IS THE BENEFIT TO MY DISTRICT, DIVISION, FLOTILLA?

Improved Recruiting; Member Retention; Re-engagement of members thinking of leaving, as well as Improved efficiency and morale.

These are not pie in the sky goals.  They are statistically proven.

Diversity Calendar Highlights

October Diversity Calendar Highlights: October is a month filled with vibrant celebrations and important awareness days that remind us of our diverse world and the values we uphold. As we honor Indigenous People’s Day, we reflect on the rich cultures and traditions of Native communities, while National Train Your Brain Day invites us to explore our curiosity and learn something new every day. October 16 brings National Boss’s Day, a time to recognize the leaders who guide us, and on the 24th, we celebrate United Nations Day, honoring global cooperation and peace. We also embrace the sweetness of National Candy Corn Day and the spooky excitement of Halloween later in the month. October is the perfect time to promote Global Diversity Awareness Month and support important causes such as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, National Disability Employment Awareness Month, and National Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention Month. Join us for World Smile Day, where we spread joy and kindness, and don't forget to take part in the Guam Flotilla Social Diversity Gathering: Autumn Fest on October 8, 2024. Lastly, mark your calendars for the D204 Lions International October Fest Story Time Literacy Partnership at 10:00 a.m. on October 5, 2024, via Zoom!

June Diversity Calendar Highlights

GUAM AND SAIPAN FLOTILLA PARTNERSHIP FEATURE:

June is a wonderful month packed with diverse celebrations and important health awareness events. We kick off with National Cancer Survivors Day, honoring those who have fought and survived cancer, followed by Diabetes Awareness Week, which educates about diabetes and healthy living. On June 12, we celebrate Philippine Independence Day, marking the freedom and rich culture of the Philippines. Father’s Day gives us a chance to show love and appreciation for dads everywhere. Juneteenth Day commemorates the end of slavery in the U.S., celebrating freedom and African American history. Throughout the month, we also observe Caribbean-American Heritage Month and National Immigrant Heritage Month, honoring the contributions of Caribbean-Americans and immigrants to our society. Pride Month celebrates the LGBTQ+ community, promoting love and acceptance. Black Music Month recognizes the significant influence of Black musicians. National PTSD Month raises awareness about post-traumatic stress disorder and the importance of mental health. Lastly, Men’s Health Month encourages boys and men to adopt healthy habits and take care of their health. These celebrations and observances help us appreciate the diversity around us and remind us of the importance of health and well-being.  Don’t forget to also join us for the D204 Lions International Summer Story Time Literacy Partnership on June 22, 2024!
