WHAT IS ILEAD?

ILEAD is an all Coast Guard Initiative, which was initiated by the Commandant. It stands for Inclusive Leadership, Excellence, and Diversity. It provides our members the opportunity to share concerns and best practices. The Auxiliary has a seat at the table.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

Diversity, Inclusion, Leadership, and Excellence are priorities of the U.S. Coast Guard and our leadership at the highest levels.

WHAT IS AN LDAC?

LDAC stands for Leadership Diversity Advisory Council.  It is the "local" unit. Its goal is to create and maintain a positive environment where everyone is encouraged to use their unique talents and skills.

HOW IS MY DISTRICT INVOLVED?

Auxiliary LDACs at the District level invite input from members, share with leadership and pass trends up to Auxiliary leadership and the National ILEAD Council for review and possible action. (Districts may take action to solve problems and implement best practices.)

WHAT IS THE BENEFIT TO MY DISTRICT, DIVISION, FLOTILLA?

Improved Recruiting; Member Retention; Re-engagement of members thinking of leaving, as well as Improved efficiency and morale.

These are not pie in the sky goals.  They are statistically proven.

Diversity Calendar Highlights

September Diversity Calendar Highlights: September is a month filled with opportunities to learn, celebrate, and make a positive impact on our community and the world. It's National Hispanic Heritage Month, where we honor the rich cultural contributions of Hispanic Americans, and it's also National Guide Dog Month, recognizing the incredible work of guide dogs in helping those with vision impairments. September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and World Alzheimer’s Month, reminding us of the importance of mental health and supporting those affected by these conditions. Labor Day celebrates the achievements of workers, while the International Day of Charity encourages us to give back. On September 6th, Read A Book Day invites us to dive into new stories, and National Suicide Prevention Week spreads awareness on how to support those in need. Positive Thinking Day on September 13th encourages us to look on the bright side, and the International Day of Democracy reminds us of the importance of participating in our government. Mexican Independence Day and Constitution Day celebrate key moments in history, while International Children’s Day and the International Day of Peace focus on the well-being and harmony of our future generations. American Business Women’s Day honors the contributions of women in the workforce, and the International Day of Sign Language promotes inclusivity for all. Native American Day, National Good Neighbor Day, World Heart Day, and World Maritime Day each highlight the importance of community, health, and the environment. Mark your calendar for the USCG Auxiliary District 14 Fall Conference on September 8 and 9, Chamorro Standard Time, and don't miss the Boat America Course on September 28 and 29. August Diversity Calendar

GUAM AND SAIPAN FLOTILLA PARTNERSHIP FEATURE:

August is filled with special days and celebrations that remind us of the diversity and importance of different aspects of our lives. As we celebrate the US Coast Guard's Birthday and the first day of classes, we also honor Respect for Parents Day, showing appreciation for everything they do. Blogger Day and Farmworker Appreciation Day allow us to recognize those who share stories and work hard to bring food to our tables. Purple Heart Day honors the brave soldiers injured in service, while National Face Mask Day reminds us of the importance of health. International Youth Day celebrates the potential of young people, and World Breast Cancer Research Day highlights efforts to find a cure. World Humanitarian Day honors those who help others in need, and National Senior Citizens Day celebrates the wisdom of our elders. Slavery Remembrance Day helps us remember and learn from the past, while Women’s Equality Day marks the progress and struggles for women's rights. Individual Rights Day reminds us of the importance of our freedoms, and World Distance Learning Day highlights the power of education no matter where we are. Throughout National Heritage Week and National Wellness Month, we celebrate our diverse cultures and focus on our health. Family Fun Month and National Coconut Week encourage us to spend time with loved ones and enjoy delicious, healthy treats.  Remember to join us on August 3, 2024, as we kick off the beginning of the school year with the D204 Lions International Back-to-School Story Time Literacy Partnership!
