For the month of March, we are pleased to share cultural diversity highlights that impact our community. Please see our March Diversity Calendar for the various features. In addition, here are just a few of them:
CHamoru Month: CHamoru Month is an essential time to recognize, commemorate, and promote the unique cultural heritage of the CHamoru people, natives of the Pacific island of Guam. It reinforces their distinct identity, promotes community cohesion, and promotes wider recognition and appreciation of their contributions. We can actively contribute to the preservation and revitalization of the CHamoru culture for future generations by observing CHamoru Month.
Women's History Month: March is Women's History Month, a time to honor the accomplishments and contributions of women throughout history. It is an occasion to recognize the achievements of women in diverse disciplines, such as science, literature, politics, and the arts. Numerous institutions and organizations host events, forums, and exhibitions to highlight women's achievements and struggles and promote gender equality.
International Women's Day: The 8th of March is International Women's Day, a global celebration of women's social, economic, cultural, and political achievements. It is a day to raise awareness about women's rights and promote gender equality. International Women's Day frequently includes events, campaigns, and initiatives aimed at empowering women and promoting inclusivity.
Finally, March is a time to commemorate the diverse cultures and histories of communities all over the globe. March is frequently the month for celebrations such as CHamoru Month (Guam), Harmony Day (Australia), St. Patrick's Day (Ireland), Holi (India), and International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (UN). These events offer an opportunity to acknowledge and value the richness of cultural diversity and inclusion.
