WHAT IS ILEAD?

ILEAD is an all Coast Guard Initiative, which was initiated by the Commandant. It stands for Inclusive Leadership, Excellence, and Diversity. It provides our members the opportunity to share concerns and best practices. The Auxiliary has a seat at the table.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

Diversity, Inclusion, Leadership, and Excellence are priorities of the U.S. Coast Guard and our leadership at the highest levels.

WHAT IS AN LDAC?

LDAC stands for Leadership Diversity Advisory Council.  It is the "local" unit. Its goal is to create and maintain a positive environment where everyone is encouraged to use their unique talents and skills.

HOW IS MY DISTRICT INVOLVED?

Auxiliary LDACs at the District level invite input from members, share with leadership and pass trends up to Auxiliary leadership and the National ILEAD Council for review and possible action. (Districts may take action to solve problems and implement best practices.)

WHAT IS THE BENEFIT TO MY DISTRICT, DIVISION, FLOTILLA?

Improved Recruiting; Member Retention; Re-engagement of members thinking of leaving, as well as Improved efficiency and morale.

These are not pie in the sky goals.  They are statistically proven.

Diversity Calendar Highlights

November Diversity Calendar Highlights: November is a vibrant month filled with events and celebrations that highlight the importance of diversity and awareness. As we commemorate All Souls Day and reflect on World Peace Day, it's a time to remember those who've impacted our lives and strive for harmony. This month also shines a light on important causes such as World Diabetes Day and Diabetes Awareness Month, encouraging us to learn more and support those affected. Thanksgiving offers a chance to express gratitude and share in the joy of togetherness, while Black Friday adds a sprinkle of excitement with shopping fun. In November, we also honor Native American Heritage Month, recognizing the rich cultures and histories of Native Americans, and National Family Caregivers Month, which reminds us to appreciate those who care for others. Universal Children’s Day invites us to celebrate and protect children's rights around the globe, aligning perfectly with National Adoption Awareness Month, which advocates for the needs of children and families. In addition to these observances, don't miss out on exciting events like the University of Guam’s Let’s Cook Workshop and Theatre Fall Concert, the 37th Annual Language Arts Conference, and the colorful Guam International Dragon Boat Festival. Join in the fun of the D204 Lions International Community Story Time Literacy Partnership on November 16, bring joy to the GAIN Fur Ball, and explore local culture at the AgriNet Guam Trade Show and Expo. Also, don’t forget to share the importance of boating safety and inform others that our Boat America course will be offered on November 9 and 16, 2024. The month wraps up with the Brotherhood of Veteran MC's Diabetes Awareness Run, promoting health and camaraderie on November 30.

Golden Key and Lighthouse Awards

Attention, all instructors! The Education Directorate has just made a groundbreaking announcement that is sure to make your year! They have just created not one but TWO additional award certificates to recognize your hard work and dedication to teaching.

You heard that right - TWO brand new certificates that acknowledge the sheer number of instruction hours that these superhuman instructors have logged in a single year. The current Auxiliary Annual PE Service Performance ribbon recognizes those who have completed 30 hours of instruction. But we all know that there are some instructors out there who go way beyond that mark. Those instructors will be rewarded with the prestigious E-Directorate Golden Key Award for any combination of 50 lead hours of Public Education and/or Member Training instruction!

But wait, there's more! For those truly exceptional instructors who have gone the extra mile, there's the illustrious E-Directorate Lighthouse Award. This award is reserved for instructors who have put in an incredible combination of 100 PE and/or MT lead hours. That's right, you heard correctly, ONE HUNDRED HOURS! It's an achievement that shines like a beacon in the night, guiding others toward excellence.

So, if you're an instructor who's been working tirelessly, pushing yourself to new heights, then these awards are for you. These awards let the world know that you're a true superstar in the field of teaching and that your dedication and hard work have not gone unnoticed. This is a marvelous opportunity to be recognized for your extraordinary commitment to education. If you're ready to shine bright like a lighthouse or unlock the golden door to success, start putting in those lead hours and let the Education Directorate reward you for your hard work and dedication!

Whether you're striving for the Golden Key or the Lighthouse Award, you know you're part of an elite group of instructors who are making a real difference in the world. Get ready to shine because the Education Directorate has just turned up the excitement factor to 11!

Logistics for awarding certificates:

•  Tracking of lead hours will be through AuxData II records.

•  AuxData hours will be examined twice yearly, on June 30 and December 31.

•  The E-Directorate will prepare the Certificate for distribution, signed by the Director of the E-Directorate.

•   Certificates will be electronically delivered through the Chain of Leadership and Management to the Flotilla Commander for printing and presentation.

We are grateful to all of our instructors for their dedication and hard work. These new awards are a small way to show our appreciation for all that they do. We are excited to honor these outstanding instructors with these new awards. They are a testament to the quality of our education program and the dedication of our instructors.
