In May 2024, members can explore a variety of significant diversity and inclusion themes. There’s National Safe Boating Week, which promotes boating and water safety just before summer begins. This month also marks Mental Health Awareness Month, aimed at raising awareness and providing support for mental health issues. Concurrently, National Military Appreciation Month honors the contributions and sacrifices of the military community. Additionally, Better Hearing and Speech Month focuses on raising awareness about communication disorders, while Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and Jewish Heritage Month both celebrate the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of these communities. Lastly, Haitian Heritage Month is observed to recognize and honor the culture and heritage of the Haitian community. These observances provide an excellent opportunity for educational activities that foster understanding and appreciation for diversity and safety in our communities. Don’t forget to also join us on May 18, 2024 as we kick off National Safe Boating Week with the D204 Lions International NSBW Story Time Literacy Partnership!
